Summer bride? The countdown begins …

Winter might not yet have taken its grip from the weather, and summer may seem many months away, but if you are planning a summer wedding there are plenty of things you should be thinking about, even in the first days of spring …

10 – start dress alterations

Your wedding gown should have been delivered by now, so you will need to get yourself booked in for a fitting to attend to any alterations that need doing. Make sure you bring any undergarments you will be wearing on the day with you. Dresses purchased from us are fitted in our shop. We usually recommend having 2 fittings; the first is generally around 8-10 weeks before the wedding day. To arrange a fitting please call 01293 521635.

9 – you can have your cake …

Get your ideal wedding cake selected and ordered. Take pictures with you of cakes you particularly like the look of so that your provider can help you to get exactly what you are looking for.

8 – for a bit of fancy writing …

… hire an experienced calligrapher. Make your invitations ones to remember by having a professional calligrapher address them.

7 – check you’ve the correct addresses

People prefer postal invites as opposed to ones that are just handed to them. Make sure you have everyone’s addresses correct so you don’t waste time and money, or that someone is missed.

6 – how are you getting there?

Specialist wedding transportation gets booked up in the summer, as you might imagine. Get your transport booked up as soon as possible, or else you might be leaving your wedding in a taxi!

5 – you want to look your best …

… so get your hair and make up appointments sorted. Again, summer is the most popular time for weddings, so the quicker you can get your appointments sorted, the less chance you’ll end up disappointed.

4 – Sort out your gentlemen

Make sure you have arranged appointments for your men’s formalwear. Your groom and attendants will need to be measured up and their wedding suits arranged and booked. If you require help or advice about hiring a formal suit, please call us on 01293 521635. If you bring along a swatch of the bridal gown or bridesmaid dress, we can even make your cravat to the exact colour for the groom and groomsmen so everything matches.

3 – Get musical

Having your music sorted is another important factor of your wedding. You might be left with a local DJ who refuses to play anything but dubstep. The more eclectic your musical choices (such as a string quartet), the harder it will be to find someone suitable if you leave it too late.

2 – Don’t expect any favours …

… if you leave sorting your wedding favours too late! Your favours are important as they are the best way of saying thank you to your guests for turning up to celebrate with you. If you’re expecting something a little quirky and personalised, then you’ll need to get it sorted.

1 – With this ring …

Make sure you get your rings purchased long in advance of your big day. This can be a fun but memorable outing with or without your forthcoming spouse. If you’re having anything special done – such as engraving – then you need to sort that out well in advance of your big day.
